Breast Cancer Rehab  Long-term Conditions/Chronic Pain Individual Positive Health Pilates

Specialist courses:

Weekly specialist Pilates classes are held at Vitality, Garstang. 

These are unique courses which cover topics not easily taught in the general classes - there is always more to teach when someone has a particular injury or condition, and there never seems to be enough time in the class! 

With that in mind I took the plunge and decided to dedicate some time to very special topics.  Each course is limited to just 5 participants to ensure individual and personalised attention.

  • 1.30pm Mum and Me - Baby Massage and Post Natal Pilates
  • 2.45pm - Level 1 Pilates - Perfect for beginners, back pain, returning from injury.

All of the above Pilates courscan help relive symptoms, improve function and quality of life.  If you cant make the full course, why not contact me about individual sessions.


During October 2008 and Breast Cancer Awareness month I have been very fortunate to attend the UK's first Pilates and Breast Cancer Rehabilitation course in Oxford.

Many more women (and men) will survive breast cancer today than ever before.  The programme Experience Pilates offers is specifically for you to assist in your recovery and increase strength and endurance which will enable you to resume an active life.

The Experience Pilates programme includes matwork based exercises focusing on:

  • range of motion for the entire shoulder girdle,

  • establishing mobility,

  • restoring posture, ensuring proper biomechanics and

  • developing core and peripheral strength to address muscular imbalances created from the surgeries.

Exercises will incorporate hand-held toning balls or tennis balls and a towel or small foam cushion to work on low-load strength and endurance.

Whilst breast cancer affects more female than males, please get in contact with me should you be a man who has been affected.  Everyone is treated with respect and empathy.

Cath teaches once a month at SMILE- Self Motivation In Lasting Endorphins

I am very proud to be the Pilates Teacher for S.M.I.L.E (Preston) - the self-help group for Chronic Pain Sufferers, based in St. Martins Church Hall, Fulwood, Preston.  Our first class was April 2008.

Once a month I take the group through a gentle yet stimulating Pilates session which is suitable for both member who can get to the floor and those who prefer to remain seated.

Individual Positive-Health Pilates

Why not have a session just for YOU? Private sessions are available if you can't make one of the courses. 

Please note that ALL of the programs listed below are intended for individuals who have been cleared by their GP/consultant or Physiotherapist to begin a safe and cautious fitness course.

Positive Health Pilates sessions use Pilates by Numbers as the basis of your workout.  Each week a bespoke Pilates workout is designed and taught to you - you are then observed and corrected as required.

Cath takes into consideration all of your needs and issues to create an integrative fitness programme for you. We even correspond with your GP/Health care professional (should that be your desire) in order to create a programme that is perfect for you.

To enable you to continue your practice at home you will receive the appropriate Pilates by Numb3rs home exercise pack, to allow you to continue at home.  Email and telephone support is also offered.
